Rules Of Engagement

These Rules of Engagement are designed to foster a safe, positive, inclusive, and professional online environment for all Users, especially our young people. They outline the expected standards of behaviour, academic integrity, and platform policies for both tutors and students.

1. Academic Integrity & Honesty

TutorBunch is a learning platform dedicated to providing academic support, not an assignment mill. Please do not request or provide direct answers for graded assessments, exams, or homework unless explicitly permitted by the instructor. Instead, offer support which develops students’ critical thinking skills, aids the completion process, allowing deeper understanding of concepts and consolidation of gained knowledge.

Focus on conceptual learning, methodologies, and study skills. Plagiarism, cheating, or completing work on behalf of a student is strictly prohibited and will result in account suspension.

2. Respect & Communication

Our community spans diverse ages, cultures, and educational backgrounds. We operate a Zero-tolerance policy for harassment, bullying, hate speech, or discriminatory language based on race, gender, religion, or background. Maintain professional, constructive, and encouraging communication via the TutorBunch messaging system.

Be polite, professional and respectful to all users and representatives of TutorBunch.

All communication must be relevant to the services of TutorBunch. No other irrelevant topics are to be discussed. Do not use TutorBunch to assist with, condone or advocate illegal activity.

3. Safety & Privacy

The safety of young people, students and tutors is our top priority. Never share personal contact information (e.g., personal email, telephone numbers, social media details etc) with any user. All lessons and communications should remain on the TutorBunch platform for auditing and security purposes. Tutors and students must ensure their background environments and screen shares are appropriate, professional, and free of sensitive data. Blur your virtual background if necessary. For minors, a parent or legal guardian must be within auditory range or supervise the session.

4. Fair Engagement & Payments

All transactions must be processed securely through the TutorBunch website. No off-platform payments are allowed: attempting to bypass the platform’s payment system to conduct lessons independently is a violation of our Terms of Service. Be respectful of other people’s times and schedules. Provide at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling.

5. Consequences of Violations

Failure to adhere to these guidelines compromises the trust and safety of our community and will result in removal from the TutorBunch platform.

6. Dispute Resolution

If issues arise, please utilise the platform’s official dispute resolution systems rather than engaging in public retaliation or negative public shaming. Resolution starts with informing a member of our Team here.

7. Monitoring

To ensure a secure, trusted, and compliant learning environment for all users, especially minors, our Community Team, in addition to our automated moderation systems, monitor and moderate the website to ensure these Rules of Engagement are adhered to, with young people kept safe. Should we deem anyone using TutorBunch in an inappropriate or unacceptable manner, including the breaking of any of these rules:

  • We will edit or delete any such content.
  • Depending on the severity of offence, we may restrict, suspend or terminate your account or ban you from part or all of our website.
  • For minor offences, we will issue a reminder or warning letting you know that you have broken a rule. We will then provide you advice on how to work in line with this policy on the platform, to avoid re-offence.
  • Offences perceived as deliberate will result in a permanent ban from the website, and this may be immediate, without warning, depending on the severity.

We aim to achieve fair outcomes, but in all instances we reserve the right to suspend/delete/ban accounts, or remove content, without notice, for any reason, but particularly to protect our young people, all users, our services, representatives, infrastructure, resources and community. We reserve the right to enforce, or not enforce, these guidelines at our sole discretion. These rules of engagement do not create a duty or contractual obligation for us to act in any particular manner.

These rules, in addition to our current Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, Safety First Policy, and Safeguarding Policy constitute the understanding between you and us, as to your use of TutorBunch.

8. Reporting and Confidentiality

As our priority is that TutorBunch remains a safe, positive and inclusive environment for every member of our Community, if you experience or witness any inappropriate or harmful behaviour, please report this immediately to a member of our Team here. We take confidentiality seriously when doing so does not cause harm to a child; therefore, we are unable to discuss issues relating to the account of others with you and thank you for your understanding.

Pricing & Payment
Why does the price I see include more than the tutor's rate?
The price shown is the full Lesson Fee — it already includes a small service fee on top of the tutor's own rate, which helps us run the platform, keep it safe, and support tutors. There's nothing extra to pay at checkout — the price you see is exactly what you'll be charged.
If I cancel a lesson, do I get a refund?
Yes. Cancel 24 hours or more before your lesson and you'll get a full refund automatically. Cancel less than 24 hours before, and you'll get a 50% refund. If you simply don't show up without cancelling, no refund applies, though your tutor may offer to reschedule at their discretion.
How long does a refund take to arrive?
Refunds are processed automatically and usually appear back on your card within a few business days, depending on your bank.
Tutors & Badges
What do the badges (Rising Star, Elite, etc.) mean?
Badges help you understand the type of tutor you're looking at — for example, Rising Star tutors show strong potential, while Elite tutors have a proven track record of excellent results. Badges don't affect price at all — every tutor's price is based purely on the rate they've set.
Are all tutors background-checked?
Tutors go through an application and approval process before appearing on the platform. You won't see a tutor's profile listed publicly until they've been approved.
Lessons & Booking
Can I try a tutor before committing to paid lessons?
Many tutors offer a free 15-minute trial session, shown on their booking page if available. This is a great way to see if their teaching style is a good fit before booking a full paid lesson.
Where do lessons actually take place?
All lessons happen inside our own secure, dedicated online learning space — you don't need Zoom, Skype, or any other app. A link to join is provided automatically once your booking is confirmed.
Can I watch a lesson back afterwards?
Yes — lessons are recorded, and you can access the recording from your profile under "My Lessons" for 90 days after the lesson. After that, recordings are no longer available, so it's worth watching back anything important sooner rather than later.
Messaging & Safety
Why was my message hidden or flagged?
For everyone's safety, our system automatically flags messages that contain things like phone numbers, email addresses, or mentions of other apps (WhatsApp, Zoom, etc.), since all communication and payment needs to stay on the platform. A flagged message is reviewed by our team — if it's a false flag, it'll be restored.
I'm uncomfortable with something a tutor said or did — what do I do?
Use the "Report a Concern" button on your profile page. It goes straight and confidentially to our admin team, who'll review it as a priority.
Can tutors see my contact details?
No — your contact information stays private. All communication happens securely through our own messaging system, not via email or phone.
Referrals
How does the referral program work?
Use your unique referral link (found on your profile) to invite a friend. Once they create a brand new account using your link and complete 5 paid lessons, you'll both receive £25 credit to use toward future lessons. Free trial sessions don't count toward the 5 lessons, and credit expires 3 months after it's awarded.
